About Paul

Home page photo.jpeg

A San Francisco native, Paul Revelli has been playing drums since childhood.

As a member of the eighties rock group Red 7 he recorded two albums with the band, both on MCA. The first, Red 7, was produced by Mike Rutherford of Genesis and Mike and the Mechanics fame. A second album entitled When The Sun Goes Down was released, followed by extensive worldwide touring, video and film exposure before the group disbanded in 1987.

In 1989, he joined Joe Louis Walker and the Boss Talkers, recording four albums with them: Live at Slim's, Vols. 1 and 2 (Hightone), Blues Survivor (Verve) and J.L.W. (also on Verve). Additionally, he recorded a track on B.B. King's Blues Summit album (MCA) for Joe Louis Walker's duet with the blues legend. During his five years with the Boss Talkers, Revelli toured the United States, Canada, South America, Europe and Scandinavia several times over. Along the way, he has shared festival stages with some of the greatest names in Blues and R&B.

From there, he worked with roots rock artist Chuck Prophet and can be heard on three of Prophet's releases: Feast of Hearts (China), Homemade Blood (Cooking Vinyl) and The Hurting Business (Hightone). Formerly of the band Green on Red, Prophet's reputation in Europe found Revelli once again playing some of the great festivals and venues there as a result.

Tours with blues legend Charlie Musselwhite, country music icon Carlene Carter, soul singer Frank Bey and all-star blues revue The Blues Broads followed. As a member of the house band for several of the Richard DeLone Special Housing Project benefit concerts held at The  Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, Paul had the honor of playing with musicians that include Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello, Boz  Scaggs, James Cotton, Jimmie Vaughan, Robert Plant, Buddy Miller, Jim Lauderdale, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Dave Alvin, Bill Kirchen and The Lost Planet Airmen.

He has also played numerous festivals over the course of his career including Glastonbury (UK), Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Notodden Blues Festival (Norway), Byron Bay Bluesfest (Australia), Roskilde (Denmark), San Francisco Blues Festival (S.F., CA), Jazz & Heritage Festival (New Orleans, LA), Summerfest (Milwaukee, WI), Hardly Strictly Bluegrass (San Francisco, CA), Chicago Blues Festival (Chicago, IL), Waterfront Blues Festival (Portland, OR), Baden Blues Festival (Baden, Switzerland), Bottlerock (Napa, CA), Edmonton  Blues Festival (Alberta, Canada), South By Southwest (Austin, TX), Tremblant Int’l Blues Festival (Quebec, Canada), Int'l Trucker &  Country Festival (Interlaken, Switzerland), Lucerne Blues Festival (Switzerland), Stagecoach (Indio, CA), Porretta Soul Festival (Italy), Rawa Blues Festival (Poland) and the San Jose Jazz Festival (San Jose, CA).

These days Paul schedules his time as a freelance sideman both live and in the studio bringing with him diverse skills, a passion for  playing and listening to all genres of music, and his intuition as the consummate sideman.
